The story behind our Hypnosis/swim project
Despite the fact that I always offered hypnosis clients for calmness in the pool. I had never I considered using it for myself....
I have been a non-swimmer for my whole life.. My mother didn't swim. I didn't know if she had maybe imprinted some anxiety on me, but, the fact is, I had participated in group lessons at least three times over the last 20+ years and always, by the end of the session I am still not swimming. It would take me too long to relax, and progress, I start to get bored and don't book more classes. In addition lessons were always in a busy, cold pool. Meanwhile, when I would go in the pool to try to practice alone, I could slowly relax as i always had a little ritual/procedure to ‘get over’ my anxiety. It really wasn't a priority to learn to swim but its such a great way to keep fit.
So here I am In 2021, eight years since my last attempt to learn. On a recent trip to Shasta I had looked on enviously as my friend swam in Lake Siskiyou. I then started to wonder if there may be a different route to learning. So, I casually asked my good friend Carol Chetrit a swim/fitness coach at Stanford to help me out along with the addition of self-hypnosis for myself. So often, the impending thought of experiencing the feeling of anxiety is more uncomfortable than any real and present threat. So, this project was born and We decided to film the whole experience to give you further feedback
(videos will be posted in September.)
